Modified Shakespeare Plays
Shakespeare’s plays can be a little daunting for adults – let alone primary school children aged ten and eleven! Sometimes the plots are a bit convoluted (especially when Will has more than one plot going at the same time in the same play) and the language, of course, can be difficult.
So, what we have tried to do in our modified plays is to concentrate on one plot strand; remove any action which would be too difficult for children to master, and tone down some of the language where necessary.
All of this, we hope, we have accomplished without sacrificing the essential story and the beauty of the words.
At the moment, we only have two plays in this category – but we hope to add more later on.
