Hansel & Gretel by Stewart Auty

£24.00 incl. zero VAT

The approximate running time of this play is 50 minutes.

A well known fairy story, of course, but playwright Stewart Auty has added a little extra spin on it. There are plenty of jokes and songs, animals and villagers to make it a great and colourful show.

Description

Hansel & Gretel are the children of the local Woodcutter and the family are very poor. The Woodcutter’s new wife – who is a classically trained pianist, you know (told you there was some extra spin!), thinks there are too many mouths to feed and her stepchildren will have to go. So they take Hansel & Gretel to the woods to abandon them – which doesn’t quite go to plan. Another attempt is more successful but has surprising consequences. One of the highlights is a salsa sequence in the Witch’s house. (Feeling hot, hot, hot?)

Songs suggested in the script are:

Fairy Tales

Fast Food Song

I Can Help

Wherever You Are

Sweets For My Sweet

Hot, Hot, Hot

All You Need Is Love

As with all our plays, there are full production notes that give advice on scenery, prop and costume-making.

Backing tracks for the songs suggested in this play can be purchased for a modest amount each from www.backingtrax.co.uk or other backing track/karaoke companies in the UK or overseas.
