The approximate running time of this play is 1 hour.

This play is an imaginative re-telling of The Sword in the Stone book (made into a Disney film of the same name). The only applicant for the job is a very strange wizard called Merlin.

Description

The King of England is very ill and he has no heir to the throne. A mysterious sword in a stone appears in London and it bears the legend “Whoso pulleth this sword from this stone shall be rightwise King of England.” Well, many men try and fail. The years pass. Merlin teaches Wart how to do many things but Kay is not interested in learning. All he wants to do is be a knight- an ambition that he finally achieves. Then one day, on the way to a tournament in London, Sir Kay, with Wart tagging along as his squire, realises that he has left his sword at home! Wart sees a sword sticking out of a stone and reckons he might borrow it…and the rest is legend.

37 parts. Many parts can be doubled up.
