Description
12 speaking parts & minimum 6 singers.
A shoemaker and his wife are just about making enough money to be able to eat. One night, before Christmas, the shoemaker cuts out the last of his leather to make one pair of shoes, then he and his wife go to bed. During the night, some cold and hungry elves come into his shop, steal some food but make some beautiful shoes for him as payment. The shoemaker can hardly believe his eyes when he comes down the next day. He is able to sell the shoes and buy enough leather for two pairs of shoes. Night after night, the elves come and make shoes in return for food and warmth. This charming tale is punctuated with Christmas songs which could be sung by a small band of carol singers or a large choir in front of the stage.
