A rather irreverent look at the nativity story from our new writer, Paul Cockcroft. Herod has got the hump because his Counsellors tell him a new King will be born in Bethlehem … the Wise men interrupt their game of Scrabble and notice the star in the heavens … a bit of sheep stealing is going on when the angels come to tell the shepherds about the birth … meanwhile Mary and Joseph are trying to dodge the Bethlehem Paparazzi.

It is a bit irreverent, yes, but not offensive and it’s very funny. It’s got disgruntled angels, slightly dim Wise Men, a wheeling and dealing Innkeeper and some hustling newspapermen. A new take on an old story that is guaranteed to make people chuckle. 32 speaking parts and it runs for approximately 30 minutes. As with all our plays, there are full production notes that give advice on scenery, prop and costume-making.
